The 35th Annual Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia Golf Tournament and Dinner, held jointly with the Japanese Business Association of Vancouver (Konwakai) was held at University Golf Course on Wednesday, September 22, 2010.  Despite several torrential downpours during the weekend immediately prior to the tournament day and rain forecast for the next few, beautiful sunny skies marked the first day of autumn and we shared good golf, good cheer, a fine meal, camaraderie and lots of prizes!  The 59 participants of the Tournament and Dinner enjoyed a wonderful day all ‘round.

This year’s prize winners included:

Prime Minister's Cup:  Low gross - Matt Heiydt

Consul General's Cup:  Low net - Fumitoshi Yuzawa

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cup:  2nd low net – Masa Matsubara, 3rd low net – Shigetaka (Jimmy) Kato, 35th low net – Frank Hanano

Other golf prizes for Closest-to-the-Pin, Longest Drive and Straightest Drive were won by:  Matt Heiydt, Jimmy Kato, Fumitoshi Yuzawa, Masa Matsubara, Nicole Fraser and Arnold Murooka.

A very significant component of our Tournament’s continuing popularity is the quality of our golf and door prizes, all generously donated by members and friends of the Canada-Japan community.  The Golf Tournament Organizing Committee, the Tournament and Dinner participants and members and directors of the Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia wish to thank all who contributed so generously.
